Easter 2010

Easter is always fun in the Schneider household, especially because it is Katie's Birthday (7th), cousin Sarah's birthday, and Great-Grandma Edith's birthday. The last two years will remain anonymous :)

We played with ladybugs from Katie, found a few eggs, and hung out with our favorite cousins! I swear, Carly is baby crack for our kid!!

Passover 2010

Passover at the Sherwin household is always a good time. This year I remembered the porta-crib and was able to enjoy the entire night. Unfortunately Eric had a horrible sore throat and was unable to partake in the wine drinking (his loss....)

During the festivities of reading the haggadah, Isaac walked and crawled around the table playing peek-a-boo around all the chairs. It's really hard to remember the suffering of the Jewish people while a 1yr old is giggling full belly laughs. He didn't make it long enough to have matzoh that night, but he scored after ransoming that afikomen -- unfortunately he had no idea!

no longer a baby...

Today, April 1st, our son became a walker.

He has consistently been taking 3-4 steps but then will sit or fall into your arms. Most of the past few weeks has been Isaac reaching up for your hand and then the two of you will walk around wherever he likes to go.

Today started off normal as my day off, did some errands. Isaac and I had lunch with Susie and Delores, who was visiting for Easter from AZ, at CPK (yummy!). Funny, as we were walking out of the restaurant, Isaac was holding Sus's hand and she mentioned he is going to walk independently soon....

After we got home and he took his afternoon nap, we were in the garage doing some laundry and he decided he was going to WALK! From the dryer to Mommy - over 20 steps. I was shocked and so excited. Eric was coming home in less than an hour so I held back the phone call. When Eric got home, his little man walking about 10 steps to him - loved Eric's face.

the big ONE

So it is official... our little baby is now 1 years old. Where did the time go?

At 1:43am February 23, 2009 our son came into the world

Sunday February 21st, we celebrated that amazing and joyous moment with lots of cake, family, and the park.

Of course, the entire time leading up to Isaac's 1st birthday party, we were stressing about the impending rain storm. But it held off just long enough for us to have our little shin-dig at the park.

I can't believe Isaac just got into that cake! Like he knew what sugary sweet tasty-ness was in front of him. He had never had sweets before, so we weren't sure how he would react, but he had no fear. :)

So many amazing people joined us at the party:

On his actual birthday, we celebrated by playing with some of our new toys and (mommy) blowing out a single candle on a cupcake (which he loved as well... without any of that obscenely food-colored frosting).

A couple days later we had our one year well baby visit where Isaac passed with flying colors!

His current stats:
Height 30 inches (2.5 ft) - 58th percentile
Weight 24.2 lbs - 75th percentile

The actual check up with the pediatrician went smoothly, it was the aftermath of the vaccines and blood draw that left us both in tears. A walk to the park with Kaya and playing on the swings and slides did just the trick to make up for the trauma.

He is babbling all combinations with no real formation of words except for mamama, dadada, dugaduga, cudacudacuda, and every now and then I swear he says Kaya. Isaac loves to "high 5" and is in the early stages of waving "hi" and "bye." Currently, it looks like he is putting his arm in the air with his hand open. Occasionally we will get the hand opening and closing as well. So cute when he does it!

He (awesomely) is on table food and drinking whole milk. Now comes the hard part of weaning that bottle...

Isaac has mastered cruising on all things i.e. furniture, toys, tv's, Kaya, Mommy & Daddy, etc. We also love to walk around the house with a little help. We have at times used our push toys, but we usually like a couple index fingers, the dining room chair, or his big dump truck. Just in the last few days he has been walking with only 1 hand holding, standing and balancing on his own more and longer each day.

On Tuesday March 1st, Isaac took his first few independent steps... now I see running in the very near distant future!

Here is to many, many more years baby boy!!
We love this little guy so much and see such a bright future ahead of him.
xoxo

bubbles!

d

Isaac's valentine's present was this little bubble maker. He seemed to enjoy it and even figured out how to push the button to make it blow bubbles.

the park.

Fact: Kids love the park. And our child is no different.

The swing, the slide, walking in the dirt/sand. All of it is so fun to watch.

His giggles from that slide were incredible. I must have gone down that slide with him 20 times.

1st shoes

As we start on the road to being a walker, it was time to get some shoes. So for Isaac's birthday Great-Grandma Ruth made it her mission to get him his first pair of shoes and therefore of course (if you know my Grandma) it happened within the week.

At first he was not so sure about those new things on his feet, but quickly he got the hang of it and actually was able to stand by himself for a few seconds longer with the extra support.

Our baby is quickly becoming a little boy...
